Expanded Reason Awards extend the deadline for entries to April 10

  • The deadline for submission of entries has been extended to April 10.
  • 100,000 euros will be awarded in four prizes for researchers and university professors.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the sixth edition of the Expanded Reason Awards, promoted by the Francisco de Vitoria University in collaboration with the Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI Foundation, has been extended until April 10. These international prizes will award €100,000 in four prizes of €25,000 each to researchers and university professors. Nominations may be submitted on an individual basis or on behalf of a project. This initiative aims to promote academic research and innovation in the spirit of Benedict XVI’s proposal to broaden the horizons of reason. This idea refers to a use of reason that, starting from its specific science, opens its horizons to understanding man and the world in its totality through dialogue with philosophy and theology, thus avoiding falling into scientific reductionism. The sixth edition of the awards will reward those transdisciplinary works that show from their scientific area an openness to an integrating principle. It is necessary, not only the dialogue with other sciences, but also the relationship with Philosophy and/or Theology at that point where the questions for a meaning that science itself cannot satisfy are found. Papers that question and incorporate reflection on anthropology, epistemology, ethics or meaning in their particular science, in the categories of Research and Teaching. The papers should reflect a real dialogue in action. To participate in the sixth edition of the Expanded Reason Awards, you have until April 10 to submit your application. For more information, you can consult the conditions of the awards.
